Brazil Oil Rules Should Attract More Investment
A bill approved by the lower house earlier this month, that removes a requirement that Brazil's state run Petrobras be the lead operator and hold a 30% share of any drilling projects in country's deep water "pre-salt" fields, is likely to attract more private investment to the sector, BMI Research says. "The measure will encourage greater private sector involvement, alleviating a degree of pressure on Petrobras ," BMI says. The bill still must be approved by the Senate.
